Sharing and cooperation aren't the foundation of most businesses, so we understand if what we're doing raises a few eyebrows.

What Kickbak proposes is simple: In return for your cooperation, you'll be treated with the fairness and dignity you deserve. It’s a basic standard of behavior in everyday life; we believe it should be in business as well.

Yes, Kickbak is a business... and like all businesses we intend to profit from our effort. We simply asked ourselves a question about earnings that the rest of the tech industry seems to have overlooked: “How much is enough?”

100% of the profits we collect from ad targeting are returned to our members, but Kickbak will hold in trust the first $5 earned by each member and keep the interest those funds generate. That’s enough for us - because it's fair.

Treating people fairly makes everyone feel good; and when people feel good, great things happen.

We can’t wait to see what happens.

x

Kickbak is the brainchild of handyman and artist David Beck, who coded the app with the help of AI. But he's just the guy who got the ball rolling.

Who is Kickbak really?
It's every individual that contributes to our database. It's you. And without you, it's nothing.

Kickbak will never seek to become a publicly listed and traded company. We're already public; our members are our shareholders, and that's who we'll answer to.

x

Your data is truly powerful. But the value of your personal information is only realised when it's combined with data from millions of other consumers, turning it into the "BigData" that advertisers covet. Kickbak does just that, and then brokers that data to advertisers on your behalf.

With Kickbak data, advertisers can be certain they're reaching the audiences they seek because our members have a direct motivation to tell them exactly what they want.

Simplicity AND efficiency achieved by treating people with dignity? We think it's revolutionary.

x

Absolutely not.

Our enrolment survey will ask a few standard demographic questions that will help advertisers match you with their products.

You can add more information about yourself as you see fit, but we’ll never ask for information like your name, address, or anything else that will specifically identify you.

x

Kickbak won't start to see profits until we've built a database that's large enough to attract advertisers. Your membership will help prove to them that our model works.

We'll ask for your patience while our community grows. Just remember: good things come to those who wait... and together, we're building something great.

We'll keep you updated on our progress through the app as we grow. And don't worry, until we can make your data start earning for you, it will remain safely stored on your own device and won't be exposed to anyone, not even us.

While the Kickbak community is growing, all of the information you contribute will be stored locally on your device. No one but you will have access to it, so there's no chance it can be used without your knowledge.

Once our membership reaches critical mass and we can start putting your data to work, we'll let you know we're transferring it to Kickbak's servers.

A pool of pure ad-targeting data collected from willing providers has never been seen before, so we really have no idea how high our profits can climb. (Keep in mind that the inferior data BigTech appropriates and has to aggressively process has been valued as high as $5000US/person annually.)

Whatever your data is worth, shouldn't that money be going into your pocket? Kickbak makes it happen.

x

Tech companies don't accept tokens or"points" when they sell your data, and neither should you.

The profits you earn through Kickbak are 100% cash that can be transferred to a financial account of your choice, whenever you like.

For local advertisers, the most valuable point in time is the "micro-moment" - the golden window of opportunity when a customer is both within reach of their goods or services and likely to buy.

Kickbak can uniquely capitalize on the value of this moment by utilizing GPS and instant notifications to let you know you're near a local business that has something you want.

This seems too good to be true. What gives?

Who is Kickbak?

It's my data, why do I need Kickbak to monetize it?

Do I have do identify myself personally?

When will I start to see earnings?

How do I know you're not using my data before the app goes "live"?

How much money can I expect to earn?

Is my payout actual cash, or just some form of "points", "rewards", or cryptocurrency?

Why do I have to enable notifications and GPS?

x

No.
Once you complete our standard survey and opt in to the Kickbak community, that's it - you have the right to share in any profit generated while your membership is active.

x

Not at all.
While a large portion of Kickbak's UI is dedicated to serving ads directly to you, there is no requirement to watch a minimum number of them.

Kickbak makes you a direct beneficiary of the advertising process, and we think that's going to change your attitude toward viewing ads.

So instead of wasting all your down time scrolling through cat pics on social media, why not check out what hot new deals are waiting for you on Kickbak? Think of it as a match-up app for products and consumers...but no matter which direction you "swipe," you still get paid!

x

Once you're enrolled, the only thing you need to do is continue using your mobile device like you always have. Kickbak will take care of the rest.

Because you tell us what you like, it's easy for Kickbak to connect you with the right advertisers and make sure your data is working as hard as it can for you - not some BigTech company in Silicon Valley.

x

Our increasingly digital lives leave trails of information with nearly every action we take. Apart from completely unplugging, there is no way to truly control the outflow of this data.

Until there is, joining Kickbak means you'll be the beneficiary of this valuable resource, not BigTech.

x

Any information you share with Kickbak is anonymised, encrypted, siloed on a dedicated server, and will not be shared directly with anyone.

With Kickbak, advertisers upload their ads to a separate server, then define target audience characteristics. If you fall into a group they want to reach, you'll be a candidate to receive the ad from us. Because all of those connections are made through Kickbak, no third party will ever have direct access to your personal information.

x

Kickbak will NEVER attempt to monitor your personal communications (voice calls, SMS, email, chat) or access files like photos and documents stored on your device. Never.

When you sign up with Kickbak, we'll ask you a number of questions to help us understand who you are and what you want. We'll also use cookie technology to help leverage the more subconscious aspects of your online consumer behavior.

Third party cookie tracking has come under a lot of criticism, and for good reason. Currently, cookie trackers put your behaviour under surveillance so it can be exploited and monetized by someone else. But with Kickbak, those insights will be used to benefit you. So you can have your cookie... and eat it too!

Whatever strategies Kickbak employs, they'll always be used to strengthen your position in the digital economy, not BigTech's.

x

A lot of the ads you'll see from Kickbak will be delivered directly in-app. When Kickbak isn't open, your mobile experience isn't going to feel much different at all. But you will notice that ads on websites and other apps partnered with Kickbak are much more tailored to the things you're interested in.

And don't worry;  Kickbak will never disclose your email to advertisers, so your inbox won't be flooded with annoying spam.

x

Advertising is the lifeblood of social media and other dominant tech platforms. These companies' use of "surveillance capitalism" to acquire data for ad targeting poses a real threat to our personal privacy. Their use of that same data to manipulate us into consuming ever more ads has caused serious damage to the social fabric. Until now, marketers haven't had much choice but to rely on data sourced by these methods.

Kickbak offers an alternative: a pool of "zero-person" data offered directly by its owners - fairly sourced and of the highest possible quality. It's something that's never been seen before, and we think it's a no-brainer for any marketer serious about truly effective targeting.

We know we're not going to fix the problems created by BigTech overnight. But by joining together and offering an ethical alternative to data-hungry advertisers, we can make a start.

x

Good question.

While the benefits of treating people fairly and with respect might seem obvious, the competitive nature of the modern economy undermines most attempts to put these values in to action. Even the original tech start-ups, founded on the promise of expanding equality and "not being evil," have succumbed to the reality  that extraction and exploitation bring a higher return to their shareholders.

There is a growing realization that digital advertising - one of the fastest growing and most influential industries on the planet - is being fuelled by a resource that is unfairly obtained. Regulators have tried to step in, but their reactionary measures have been essentially ineffective. The tech giants may have to jump through a few more hoops to get it, but our data is still being siphoned off on a massive scale. For change to happen, advertisers need an alternative to misappropriated data.

Kickbak is not alone in recognising this problem. Private organizations known as MIDs (Mediators of Individual Data) try to get consumers to share their data for reward. But, until now, what they've offered in return represents only a fraction of the value of the data they're taking. It's the same exploitation game the tech giants have been running, just with the veneer of fairness.

Kickbak sees things differently. We believe the power of "personal" data lies with the person. By creating a system that is transparent, fair, and treats everyone involved with the respect and dignity they deserve, we want to give that power back to the people who actually own it.

Is my payout based on how much data I allow access to?

Is my payout based on how many ads I watch?

Do I have to manage which parts of my data are shown to whom?

So how much "control" of my data will I have?

How will advertisers have access to my information?

Are you watching what I do on my mobile device?

Will my mobile device be inundated with new ads?

I'm tired of my data being used by companies that are causing divisiveness in our society. How will this help?

If this is such a good idea, why doesn't something like this exist already?
