Empowerment of the individual
It's what Kickbak is all about.
And it's reflected in our conviction that one person with a vision can take an idea born in a garage and use it to transform an entire industry.

David Beck - founder, designer
David is a self-taught creator of furniture and domestic objects. As a designer, his focus is on problem solving. As an artist, he wants those solutions to be elegant and unique.
An avid listener of news radio while he builds in his garage workshop, David became fixated on a hot topic in the media spotlight: BigTech's trampling of individual privacy rights, and its ever-expanding efforts to trick people into ceding their valuable personal data. These issues affect every member of modern consumer society. Yet, despite the scope of the problem and all of the hand-wringing over it, no one had proposed a superior method for acquiring ad-targeting data, or a viable way to stop BigTech from simply taking it.
The designer in David saw a solution. Efficiently targeted ads benefit the consumer as much as the producer; instead of extracting consumers' data through a tiresome game of cat and mouse, why not just ask them for it? Such consent would require compensation, but isn't that how business is supposed to acquire resources... fairly? Why should BigTech be allowed to behave differently?
The artist in David was satisfied. Elegant in its simplicity and almost radically unique in our winner-take-all commercial culture, the idea of Kickbak was born.
